The Sun 600 seems to be an overlooked 600 series Polaroid camera. It doesn’t have a sonar autofocus feature (more on that in another article) This camera doesn’t have an autofocus feature period; instead it has a 106mm lens that will infinity focus objects beyond four feet (though slightly fuzzy).
LMS
A distinct feature of the Sun 600 is the LMS or Light Management System (or fancy marketing way of saying exposure setting). On the front of the camera has a slider that controls the exposure: if you slide it toward the white arrow the photo’s exposure becomes brighter, vice versa for the black arrow. The aperture range is f/14-f/42. Since Polaroids have point-and-shoot you’re welcome to always leave the setting in the center but with this setting you can tinker with lighting and get more interesting results than just turning the flash on or off. The Impossible Polaroid 600 has the same feature and you can find one here.
Film options with Feature
It’s recommended by some photographers that going crazy with the slider is only recommended with black and white film – going beyond subtle with color seems to get washed out.
What are some prints out there you’ve taken or seen that took the exposure to 11 and let it rip?
